Well its been a while ..again.
But well they know whats wrong now and I really don't mind sharing its how I get my mind around it. I have a Prolactinoma, its a non-cancerous tumor living in my brain. What it means its a life on meds, with possible scary side-effects but hey well that's life.
Starting after Christmas so at least my family wont have to deal with a crazy lady, which reminds me I am actually going back to wales this year! Only for 3 days but its 3 days with my family made even more specially since I found out I'll going to be an auntie again
As you can imagine with everything going art has been pretty slow. Done a few sketches, working on several pieces and made a few canvas's for Christmas presents.
Also got a paid commission on the go which has cheered the mood a bit Its pony based but going to be fun, speaking of which got a view test prices below anytakers?

Attended Dr. Sketchy again, this time at Derby Quad with Yvash and Aaron Murphy. Like last time had a great day! It was so nice and relaxing drawing in a group again, and the Halloween theme raised everyone's spirits. Left is a collection of sketches from the day ranging from 5 to 15 mins, the one on bottom right I even won a prize for :). For the day I used a mixture of materials pencil, pen, chalk, and watercolour pencils.

In other art news not much, well I say not much. Still working on colouring the reworked NeoHorror poster, around half way done. The real problem with it is I have to colour every character separately which takes time, but hopefully the end result will be worth it :)
Have also been working on 4 character designs for my partner, based on characters he is writing several short stories about.

Another little monster her name is Violet. I personally don't think she came out as nice as Max but o well. This monster was a completely digital one oppose to Max which I worked from a basic pencil sketch.

Well its been a busy week started a new fitness kick, lost 2 pounds when I was last weighed on Sunday so waiting to Saturday to see If I have lost anymore fingers crossed..
And apart from that MONSTERS! Be entered into the Lets Draw Monsters new mascot contest so here's my entree Monster Max! The conditions for contest was cute and simple so I hope he'll win the judges over with that cheeky grin. This was a redo of a piece I did on Tegaki recently, and drawing in photoshop cs2.
In other art news have completed my resent commission to do a series of pieces illustrating a short story, did 10 A3 paintings although but have chosen to redo one of them as I have a spare 3 weeks before deadline. So now with those projects out of the way time to return to the poster project!

Joined Tegaki E to see what all the fuss was about and was.. surprised. The interface and principle is simple, a forum/blog using pictures any skill level any subject. So far have not got involved in the community but enjoying the simple tools ( the lack of layers can get frustrating) but to quickly spring out ideas and sketches its a lot of fun. Going to use the site for ideas and also testing my skill at fast digital images and creating work without the safety net of a layer of pencil line art.(left)
In other news still working on the "man who painted the world" illustrations decided to add one more imagine to the piece, thus now just two more paintings to go.
Also completed the rough pencil sketches of the re-do of the Neo-horror poster from 1998-0, and working on several cute monster designs for the lets draw monsters logo competition (left)

This week working on commission for the excellent Spekti working on several A3 illustrations in indian ink and watercolour. Only 2/3 more to go!
Also taking a break from said project (deadline end of the month) to work on a commission from a friend, and also reworking a poster I made back when I was 14! In 12 years I hope ive improved :s, thus challenge to re-do the poster (extract left), so here goes...

Well im back again, was I away? I sure felt like it apart from facebook, and minecraft I've not been very net social (strange since im on here at least once a day) reason I'm not quite sure. Been down lately and been back to hospital to find I need to keep going back :s, tired from work all the time and just general feeling a bit fed up.
But am coming back got a illustration project for a friends film on the way, a few commissions and some fun stuff here soon! But over the next few weeks I will be uploading more work such as left a sketch I did at Dr.Sketchy notts.

But these past few months well.. turned 26, went on holiday, traveled back and forth from Wales and of course RP Mouse (bottom left) is from the Red Dwarf rp and Bray (bottom middle) is a continuation of the fantasy portraits I have been working on. And the other mouse picture (bottom right) well thats for mature audiences...

I can't belive July is already here and already half way though! Although it does mean sale will be over soon so will hopefully have time off soon :)
Would like to report the weather has been beauitful but this is Great Britain with the great British weather :s So rain all the way.
Been fairy busy with sale, medical and social things, but have manged to get some art work done. My partner has started running a new fantasy themed role play, and thus I have been working on Georgian style portraits of all the player characters, left is my character the Lady Eleanor Moran a dragon mage, below left is Skyre the ships first mate plated by Robin Smith , right Elan Longbow Lady Moran's loyal centaur bodyguard. These were small A5 sketches coloured in Adobe Photoshop.
Got several more of these to go when I have the time, got several non-personal projects I need to finish first.
Have also managed to do some ink paintings of ...............man-eating turnips!!! Yes I know its strange

but its true! been doing some creature concepts in ink and watercolour for a comic I'm working on, its a odd fantasy setting and the man-eating turnips are a roaming monster. Below is part of one of the designs click the image to see the full version and have more here .

Well good news everyone!
My new scanner is back and in business! Turns out the company dealing with my scanner repair went bust they reopened again...but out of this mess I have gotten a brand new one and so far it works perfectly (fingers crossed). But in the mean time I have been a busy bee this past week and a bit. With new scanner on the way I wanted to get rid of several pieces on my list. Left is a forum icon I made for my partner Patrick King of his SLA INDUSTRIES character dark the business package carrien (mutant). This was a small sketch on a5 that was scanned in on his scanner and worked over this between other work.

Right is another SLA INDUSTRIES fan art I have been working on however shock horror I have returned to more traditional methods! This is the inked up and painted (red and black ink with watercolours) of a sketch I posted a few weeks ago of my rp character who is now a horrible smiling monster...but a happy one at that. This was on waterolour paper (a4). Enjoyed working on this made a welcome change from photoshop.
Speaking of which below is my biggest piece of the movement! Its called his song based on an idea I had of a half demon singing her love song to a human man in club, she is using a glamor knowing that no one will recognize her but hopefully he will hear her song and remember what they had together. I was working on a completely different digital sketch but while taken a break I worked on

this and well it grew from there. Still think more work can be done on this, but with the backlog of work I have its something I can afford to leave for now :).
As usual all of these are available on my DA account in their full versions for you to enjoy.
In other news blood tests results are back..but have to wait 3 weeks to doctors appointment to talk about them :s, so playing the waiting game again. Will be updating again soon aiming to have something new to show each week.

A shire wedding

Well back from Wales refreshed and relaxed! Wedding was wonderful (weather behaved itself that day!) and had a amazing time! Got to dance drink and make merry with family and friends and had a bbq (well not quite to to weather). Also while home got to set the date for my own wedding :D so come 24th August 2013 I will be Emily King :D
In art news still no scanner :( starting to get annoyed now giving it til end of month! But in the mean time been colouring some of my old work from last year and finishing a few bits and bobs such as the faun (left) and fantasy pin up (below). Hopefully some news on the scanner soon so I can start work again :D

Still waiting on news for the scanner, really started to get annoyed now :(
So going back to old work and looking at some pure digital work again, on the left is a faun I'm working on for my partners pen and paper role-playing game in the works. Enjoying it so far apart from the colouring of old work. I personally hate looking at my old stuff especially line art, all I can see is mistakes and things I could improve on If I didnt have a backlog for work both new and old to complete :/
Below is one of these old pieces a small sketch on A5 of a character is had in a dream, her name was Frieda and I'm not quite sure what is she some sort of forest spirit?
Drew her based upon the early final fantasy works all eyes and head! Happy with how she turned out for now just did a quick colour and added some background texture.

Back from the shire (again)

Well i'm back from the shire and not a chance to rest yet! Been cleaning, working and trying to unpack, yiu may say but you were away did'nt you rest there...
No. I'm from an old welsh family which means my family and extended family is huge! My mother was one of 8 so my time was spent visiting family, babysitting and getting stuck in Cardiff. But it was great! As I said I got stuck in Cardiff I was visiting my good friend Lucy and her little one...however we were'nt able to get on our bus and we had to run to the bus stop...we missed by 5 minutes! So I had to make a classey shopping trip to buy pants and a toothbrush and ended up stopping the night. It ended up being the highlight of the trip it was'nt planed but we got to spend time together and chill :)
The only downside to being at home (apart from missing partner) was packing away childhood. My parents are selling the house, so it was my job to spend a day packing up anything that was still mine and all my old toys to put into a carboot sale and any sketchbooks to go into storage at my Dad's workshop. Was very strange.
Anyhoo, didn't manage to get the sketching I had planed when away due to family keeping me busy, but need manage to get some dead lands character sketches planed out, and finally painted the cover of my sketchbook. Now I'm back in Derby have finally finished my art trade with Lucy of her character Ella (left) the full version can be seen here. Again another full digital piece with a promise of more to come!

Digital love

As I said in my last post much digital love at the moment, with the scanner broken (again) have been working more straight from digital and its been working! Well I think so at least :)
Been doing more SLA Industries based fan art (left) in prep for future games, and also as a challenge to myself to do work outside of my comfort zone and work with armor and weapons more.
Have still been sketching working again with SLA based fan art and several commissions out of the way, however without scanner progress has been slow.
The scanner has been sent away (again) to espon hopefully this time it will be fix. Fingers crossed.

This is what I'm currently working on between day job and life issues and its been a lot of fun. Its an art trade between myself and fellow artist Lucy Williams. Its of her character Ella a rabbit mutant with cybernetic limbs (left arm, right leg) the theme was power. All I could think of for this was the old poster images of women from ww2, so I rolled with it! Working in photoshop cs2, this is a shot from several days ago since then most of the base work on face, eyes, skin and ears done now working on her cybernetic arm.
In other news was made head of handbags at work (whatever that means) and off to wales on Saturday so fun times ahead!

Been back in the SLA themed action past few weeks thanks to the new SLA forums
http://nightfall.me/index.php if you a fan of the game please check it out! Due to this been playing much more SLA recently and been inspired to do some fan art. Currently piece is of a Wraithen albino named Pelen Eira "snowball". Been trying to paint straight to digital recently rather than colouring pencil work. So far working well although much more time consuming.
Have been enjoying working straight to digital started with some small sketches such as below, then into full blow works. Just hope this keeps up.

New place

I've disappeared again, but with reason!
Between christmas seasons and life myself and my partner decieded it would be the best time to move!
So we did.....
And the new place is awsome. Rented a new much bigger place which finally feels like a home not a studio flat with an extra wall and mould like our old place.
Been in new place almost a month and already health and moods have improved and finally feel free to do art again and going well so far, set up mac last week all ready to go..
..and my scanner is still broken. Got it "repaired" plugged in and turns out it hasn't been fixed so has been sent away. Again.
So while waiting colouring some old sketches, heres the start of a old pic base colours done while getting ready for work in the mournings. Also started work on straight to digital this week so here we go!

I've been busy! Ever since the work on the Eva piece I haven't stopped! Well that's not true I've had to go to work, and have many lazy nights in front of the TV (check out bb4 on Mondays for their horror specials! Now completed Patrick's goblin (left http://emilialys.deviantart.com/#/d3075mv), Sketched now four more goblins (Chris, Kaffe, Neil and Robin!), however my scanner is broken and has been sent away to see whats wrong, so in the mean time have been working on character work that was in my back log of work. Great time with photoshop lately finally got the nude Eva Shinn kicker the horrible halfling done!
This meant a great deal to me as since the mac death I felt like I had lost touch with everything I learn't in photo shop the past few years the last thing I did and felt happy with was Elm'ra the Dreanei.
However a few days ago after I have finished the goblin I wanted to work on something and I chose the sketch of Eva from months ago and made a plan each part -the hair, skin, details, background I would work on one session at a time to stop myself getting frustrated and rushing the finish.
I beleived this worked for the best doing it this way actually got me excited about art again, and made me get to work as soon as I finished my job, not only because I wanted to finish it becuase I enjoyed it!

Finally got the goblin version my myself done and posted, not completely happy but its not meant to be a stand alone piece, will be placed together with other goblin portraits so hopefully she'll look more in place then.

Well it has been a while....
All I can say is well its been a weird old time, had my contact increased at work, then got bill from council for crazy amount of money, having hormone troubles again, gas bill came and I turned 25
Now I know turning 25 is no big deal but for me it is, my siblings were all settled down married with kids by my age, several friends are getting married this year and next (several younger than me), and several with babies on the way, and I'm still the same way in the same job trying to save each month and failing. I know this blog isn't for this stuff but I need it somewhere or I'll go mad. I just want my life to start now.
Anyway art is been slow, been experimenting with ink shading (only using photoshop to colour not add tones) the test is above (full version on DA). And have been painting again so getting there.

Well here is June..I think the weather is looking a bit glum today ah well. But since its June it means sale with means too much stock for our store to take with leaves me this mourning not able to lift my forearms with out them aching. But apart from that things are ok, the same usual problems but we have a roof over our heads.
Art wise a bit all over the place I'll admit currently I'm having modes when I can produce several sketches at once then other evenings with my sketch book on lap unable to put ideas to paper.
But have been productive either way on the left is a close up of a a3 creature concept for a role playing game, the larger versions are on my DA. These I did using 2 different coloured pencils, as a way for me to break out of how I usually do things, this is turn became several character head shots and several other concept sekcthes. Below is what I'm currently working on, yes I've gone back to digital but I wanted to colour this image badly. I had worked on this several months ago however the colour scheme wasn't working and more pressing work came forward. However I was searching my files the other day and tort I would give her another good, now my changing her colours to vivid pinks and purples the dragon warrior suddenly keeps drawing my attention, so hopefully I'll finally get

her done soon :D

Summer!

Well it looks like the summer has finally reached Derby! So heres a sample of my beach girl (full version http://emilialys.deviantart.com/#/d2opoko) to lighten the mood. Things starting to get a move on this month, well apart from housework, but more hours at work council stuff sorted and started painting again!
Unfortunately due to sketching madness now have a huge back log of sketches and works to finish digitally so while everyone is enjoying the sun I'll be indoors with my mac. Good Times.
Currently working on colouring a D&D orc named Gretta, then its on to the second part of the city folk works then the dragon people.

New new new

Again delays however this time this wasn't due to being lazy, my old mac died.
I had the machine since 2005 and when it died I was completely lost, most of my work was on my external hard drive but lost a lot of my recent work and sketches, several programs (which and currently reinstalling), and photos.
I handed my mac in to the care of my great friend Niel Munro who believe it or not happens to work in a mac shop! Well it wasn't good my old hard drive was ruined and burnt out. The thing that gets me all year I was saying about how precious I was about my old Mac as I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it and low and behold I had to replace it :(
But the most amazing parents stepped in a gave me the money to buy a shiny new one. So now with double the power of my old one and with all the sketches I did while I was computerless the art is back on track. Well again sorry for being gone for so long who knew how busy work will keep you!
Other than work illness has layed me up but with today a little better and a week of from work its art time.
This litte demon on the left can be found on my DA and is my most recent digital work. Currenly working on some tribe designs for a rpg and the same projects as usual.
In personal life have been very busy with work and the past few days have been held up with a flu but now getting better.

Well again I'm sorry for the wait have been in Wales spending time with the family (can not get time off at Christmas). Was fun saw babies, puppies, family and friends so had a great time!
Also had some great time when getting home to Derby went to the Leeds comic con (thought bubble) and got to meet the great Ben Templesmith!
The con gave me some great ideas for things to sell in future cons partially prints and badges, and got to attend a talk with Marvel's Simon walker who gave some handy advice for the industry.
So the creative juices have been flowing, however the body is not. Still a bit of a medical mystery so having blood tests yet again and feeling general run down because of it. But if something is wrong its wrong and i can't dwell on it!
In other news just one christmas present left to go! :D

Well its nearly Halloween and the clocks have changed meaning one thing! My body clock is out of order and feel tired all the time, hopefully wear off soon...hopefully.
Been scanning today so more work on the way, and filming begins this week for PV so alot to look forward to.
In personal news with people sick lots of extra hours at work , keeping me busy but paying the bills.

It's always fun when you plan a trip home and you come down with a stinking cold. At the moment in dressing grown deciding whether to still go or stay in derby, either way im packed just not dressed.
In art news finally completed my Eva the grubby halfling piece (see full view on my DA page). It was the most use of brown i've used to date, but it was great working on a character so unglamorous and disgusting.
So now on the next of the role playing girls Tichuba from our pirates game.

Well Im in the new place and back on the net!
Its been a busy summer of sketching now currently working on the summers work digitally, all can be found on my DA page including the full version of my WOW character Pixii (left).
Also have been sculpting again with a gift of a friends character, the legs are done now starting on the body.
In other art news am starting to reorganize my portfolio and getting new work printed, and also working on concepts for a independent film.

Well we're on the move again! This Thursday me and Patrick are moving house. However this does mean I will be without the internet for a few weeks, so this will be my last post for a while. Hopefully will be working so when i'll be back more art uploaded.

Again things have been chaos here. Went back to wales to visit family, work none stop, and moving house at the end of the month. So its all go, in the process of moving so may not be another post for a while (like i post weekly lol).
In art news been working on old sketches and doodles lately such as my goblin (left) you can see the full version of him on my DA page. Also been working on dragons and brownies as well as stuff for the comic. Have started work on my call me Kenneth sculpture want to get him done before the move. Have now added over 10cm to his neck just need to broaden his shoulders then the paint job can begin.

finally have my camera has decided to work, so can finally upload my sculpture pics. On the left is my moc roc, wire and clay scuplture of "the porter" a charcter from a nightmare I had several months ago. It was a gentleman creature all blure welcoming guests into a house.
On the bottom is my current sculpture based on my partners role playing character "call me keneth", again this is being made with wire, moc roc and clay.
Not much in other news have entered this months MGC, and currently working on comic book for a friends project.

Well the suns out, its the 2nd of may and hopefully summer is on the way. However the rain has been evil this week...
In other news all is well, work is keeping me busy, entered last months MGC contest, and my lastest sculpture is coming along. However sadly are goldfish both died this month, horseshoe died of a long illness and poor Kenneth stopped eating after his mate died and thus died himself. Poor little guys. Finally completed my daughters series with Daughter of the Earth (left) which is availble as a print from DeviantArt (right). Also have several pieces made into prints also on the site. Drawing wise reworking the lesbian undead disco and almost completed Poodle rollercoaster.

Anyway sculpture is done photos will be up soon, and several commissions on the way to be finished. Also as an exercise i have been given been drawing everyday which has helped the creative juices flow and kept me relaxed. So more work on here soon, as well as a revamp...what this space..

Well sorry for the lack of updates lately its been a busy time. Have been back down in wales helping the family get ready for the new addition to the family my new nephew Max Pryce Powel. And now getting ready for the next new addiction due the end of the month :D
In art news finally got the myla/water digital work done for a full view please visit my Deviant art page, it took over 30 layers but its done you can also find a flash of the process of the image. Currently working on some suplture work based on a nightmare i had a view mounths ago and starting my new few commissions.
Also saw Watchmen and i highly recomend it! I loved the book and the film was a good adaption not quite the book but as best as it can be!

Well happy new year everyone. And new year means new resolutions, one of mine to to remember to update weakly on the blog. Which I will try to do. well lots of creative progress this week, my new job is kicking off and have had plenty of time to draw, paint and finished several commissions, including the second part of my werewolf work for Sohpie. I have also been working on several comics the guy to the right is the central character however in this doodle he is facing off against blacksad for some reason.

hello all moved in and back in the working world to pay the bills while im still trying to build up my work. So now working at Clarks. However art is going well been working on a private collection of drawings and illustration for a birthday gift, and working on several comic projects at the moment, one still waiting on script and the 4 page project in ink stages. Sorry for lack of updates things have been very odd and busy. First of all moving this weekend so the last few weeks have been spent sorting out details and finding a place, as well as finding work. However have manged to do a few commisions and been uploading work to my DA account. Still working on my site however the site doesnt agree with my mac so watch this space ....

may be another sort while to my next update due to house move thus no net for while.

Updates slow this week, and have not been able to work on site thus the digital and traditional links still do not work. The reason for being this week was the last week of degree show and the week we get our results back, and i passed everything. I was especially pleased with my B for my dissertation as i was worried how my tutor would react to my subject matter. My topic was on the sexuality of monsters, and the role of female monsters in art and modern visual media e.g. computer games, focusing on the art of masahiro Ito , and the silent hill series. What worried me was my tutor reading my writing on the sexual nature, but i got a good grade so i guess she enjoyed it.

I now have all my work back now, so I will in the next few days be able to scan in my work from degree show, including my sketch collections (selected sketch above). I have also had a few calls this week for interviews one actually this evening and another on Tuesday. Wish me luck.

Well is been a busy weekend my parents have been up from wales and several of my friends have left the area. So its been some mixed feelings all around. But no chance to ponder i have a month to find work and a place to live, plus to promote my work. busy busy busy..

Have completed my colouring of a art challenge piece i did in easter for Lucy Williams, originally it was just a pencil drawing but decided as i now have time to return to it and give her colour. The full image can be found on my deviant art page.

Today has been a fun day went to Megazone Derby for a birthday and failed.. Never been to good, especially as my dear love likes to give me a quick kiss when i've been killed just so as soon i come back to life he tags me :( ah well was good.

Now work is over I have been able to relax considerate on non University work, thus have been spending the past few days sketching and finishing off work. Firstly was an art trade I did for Sophie Pickard of a werewolf character design (left ), now currently sketching ideas and working on pieces in photoshop. Also have completed the daughter of the sky piece(. As well as art i have also started baking again and today is a birthday cake which is the biggest mix ive made before but its in the oven now....

Well my works all handed in and degree show portfolio of final year university work is really to hand in, now all that is needed to do is complete degree show displays for friday. So wow is over, and now I can concentrate on my own promotional, work and personal projects and commissions. First thing done is my business card (left) made on photoshop using a small dragon sketch and my dyed paper texture, will be posting more in the next few days now i have time to :D

Well the work is almost done and im very stressed, however when looking though my photographs i found this one which put a big smile on my face. Here is my cat kitty (i know very inventive name but hey i didnt name her) refusing to get of a painting i was trying to photograph. Everything paint she has to sit on. Weird little kitty....

I have just got back from a evening of cocktails and fancy dress, currently in medieval gear. The reason for this is today is the official hand in day for my course, however I have one more week to hand in. Thus this week and next is busy busy, thus still need to set time for business card. Well my animation is almost done, now just checking the sound which hopefully will have done by the end of tomorrow....hopefully lol. So while rendering my animation have been putting my written work together and printing out work from the year, including some photographs of my paintings (left). Busy busy busy..

Wow things are happening fast! My mtv project is done now its full steam ahead for my final film and written work as well as some personal projects. I have also had my review back from Warhammer world and they would like to see more examples and gave some good advise.

I have also been thinking about this blog, i'm trying to make it my site but im trying to place in smaller images of my work either at the top or bottom of the page with will link to the image on a gallery page, however no luck so far so i have added a link to my deviant art gallery and will soon add a link to my gallery at ImagionFX, which reminds me the new issue is out and has a great bonus magazine of the new digital arts making waves in the comic world. Theres another point a big hello to all my friends at the bristol comic con, as again this year i couldn't attend due to deadlines.

Well here goes i've finally got my blog and just in time as I I'm just about to finish University in the next two months, and now on the hunt for jobs and also somewhere to live in the midlands. This blog site will be under a lot of development as i get the hang of things and set up links to my portfolio sites, and get University work out of the way.

Heres a sample of my work 'The daughter of the sea" made April 2008. This character concept is a ink and quill sketch which has been coloured and edited on Photoshop CS2, the paper used is tea dyed paper. The concept for the character was to represent the element of water with the focus on the eyes. Thus i decided to make her mad and angry as the sea which can be calm one moment they a wild storm the next
